In the month of June, we observe major milestones in the journey to equality and equity. June 19th, referred to as Juneteenth, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. Pride Month recognizes the impact that LGBTQ+ individuals have had on history locally, nationally, and internationally. Immigrant Heritage Month celebrates the extraordinary contributions that immigrants have made — and continue to make — every day in the U.S.

These are all powerful moments in our culture that dig deeper into issues of equality, honoring those who fought for it, and making a difference in our local and global communities, as those who identify as or are allies to each of these historically marginalized groups.

We encourage you to learn more about each of these historic moments, get involved in one of our ERGs like PRISM and become actively involved in any of our volunteer opportunities listed below.

Volunteer in support of Immigrant History.

You can share your citizenship story to be shared on social media and help encourage those eligible to naturalize in taking that step forward. Verizon Media employees can participate here.

Many immigrants need assistance in Adult Education programs with English/ESL and GED/HiSet courses. Volunteers can assist our students as a one-on-one tutor or as classroom aid. Verizon Media employees can sign up to tutor here.
