Every company needs a purpose. It’s the reason the company exists and highlights our meaningful role in the world. For decades, Verizon has been known for its trusted and reliable network, and we have earned that recognition by serving our customers in a way that only we could do. Now, we need to build on our industry-leading reputation and celebrate how we enrich people’s lives, starting with a new purpose:

We power and empower how people live, work and play.

Whether helping run and grow their businesses, connecting them to the people they love, capturing and sharing their most important life moments, responding to a crisis and helping them rebuild, learning in the classroom or accessing exclusive experiences, we are there for our customers and communities … everywhere and always.

Introducing Culture OS

While our purpose serves as a north star to guide us forward, it’s the tip of a much broader cultural operating system — our Culture OS — which governs who we are and unites us as a V Team.

So, why does this matter?

Previously, we had separate values for our brand and employees, implying that we show up differently for our customers than we do for ourselves. Building on our Credo, we are bringing everything together under a singular set of values and V Team principles that apply to every employee and are the same internally as well as externally.

What this means is that we are all accountable for the same standards. No matter where you sit or what you do, every V Teamer is expected to live up to these attributes and model these behaviors with all our stakeholders

Our values

Our values serve as the foundation of our purpose and how we show up for our customers and each other.

Trust: We build trust in what we do every day for customers and each other.

Care: We care about people and connecting them to what matters.

Excellence: We strive for excellence with the highest standards of performance and quality.

V Team Principles

Our V Team Principles are the cornerstone of our culture. They empower the career, development, performance and leadership journey of our V Teamers.

V – Strategic Leadership

  • Be customer-centric: We put our customers first.
  • Deliver innovation What got us here, won’t get us there, so we don’t settle

We – Inclusive Leadership

  • Activate teamwork: We bring others along & we win together.
  • Embrace diversity: We seek diverse perspectives and create safe environments where everyone feels valued to fully participate.

Me – Authentic Leadership

  • Model integrity: We hold ourselves accountable and always act with integrity.
  • Champion growth: We support and root for one another as we learn and develop.

The best part of our V Team Principles is how concretely they can be applied. We want our V Teamers to use these principles to anchor their development priorities, refer to them when requesting feedback from their manager, and incorporate them into their goal setting.

This is just the beginning.

You inspired all of this — your actions, your leadership, your impact — because you power who we are and who we aspire to be.

And we, as a V Team, have the privilege and responsibility to power and empower the world around us.

I can’t think of a more worthy purpose, and I am honored and proud to share it with you.
