Meet the new music teacher at Verizon Innovative Learning.

This past weekend, Pharrell Williams kicked off the inaugural Something in the Water Music Festival in his hometown of Virginia Beach, VA. He also started his new job as a music teacher for Verizon Innovative Learning.

During the festival, Pharrell took the stage with a couple of students, Rihanna and Craig, to announce that Bayside Middle School in Virginia Beach will soon be getting their very own Verizon Innovative Learning Lab. We also caught up with some Verizon Up members who had exclusive access to the festival.

It’s been just about a month since 5G Ultra Wideband Mobility launched in Chicago and Minneapolis, giving consumers and businesses in those areas a glimpse into this lightning-fast real-time future. As Chicagoans become some of the first in the world to get their hands on 5G, Andy Choi hit the streets to get some reactions.

Wednesday marks the beginning of Military Appreciation Month. We value our military as both customers and employees of Verizon. Starting May 1 for a limited time, active-duty military, reservists, Gold Star families and veterans can get $100 when switching or activating a new 4G LTE smartphone on a new line of wireless service.

Later today, Verizon Media will take part in NewFronts. This is a chance to show off some new shows to potential partners and advertisers. Hans and Guru will be there, joined by some of the on-air talent from Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Finance. You can tune into the live stream at 7 PM ET tonight on the Verizon Media Twitter page.

It’s all on today’s Up To Speed, the best place for anything happening around and inside Verizon.
