Celebrate Global Volunteer Month by joining one of our events.

April is packed full of important moments to celebrate across the V Team. While we recognize and honor the beauty of our unique cultures and backgrounds with Diversity Month, we’re also uniting to celebrate the impact of our V Team volunteers worldwide.

This month, you’re encouraged to Seize the Hour for Global Volunteer Month and help the V Team reach 60K volunteer hours by April 30. When you join in with friends and colleagues, your volunteerism helps move the world forward and strengthens our commitments to social responsibility; a key part of Citizen Verizon.

No matter how you participate, there’s a meaningful way to do it this month. You can discover ways to make an impact during Global Volunteer Month on the Citizen Verizon Volunteers portal, or by participating in one of the feature volunteer events below.

Make an impact

The Citizen Verizon Volunteer program is focused on deepening employee engagement and driving action in three key areas - digital inclusion, climate protection and human prosperity. Below, we’ve included some events that fall into those categories.

Human Prosperity:

Climate Protection (Earth Day is April 22!)

Digital Inclusion:

  • Virtually assist individuals who are blind with a phone app. Be My Eyes will prioritize Verizon Volunteers on April 6, 20, & 27 to celebrate Global Volunteer Month.
  • Share your voice for those suffering from speechlessness with this virtual VocalID event.

Earn some swag

Throughout April, if you achieve any of the below volunteer milestones, you’ll be entered to win some pretty “seize-able” swag. 20 winners will be randomly selected for each milestone in May.

Seize the Hour and move the world forward.
  • Complete four hours and receive a Seize the Hour notebook.
  • Complete eight hours and win a notebook and an insulated water bottle.
  • Complete 12+ hours and receive a notebook, insulated water bottle, and a Seize the Hour backpack.

To check out these items or to purchase some swag of your own, visit the Citizen Verizon Seize the Hour shop.

Wait. There’s more

Remember, April is also Diversity Month and Financial Literacy Month. You will find lots of great events to participate in hosted by UNITED ERG and our friends at Fidelity. Check out UNITED's featured event on April 11 including executive panelists Sowmyanarayan Sampath, Sam Hammock, and Kyle Malady to discuss culture, impact and diversity within the V Team. Together we will also complete a climate protection mural and promote sustainability education.

Tell us in the comments below how you plan to participate. We love to see your pictures. Be sure to share your photos with us on social media using #CitizenVerizon, #SeizeTheHour, and tag us @InsideVerizon on Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
