System Update 5

The details:

Release date: 01/29/2021
Android™ Security Patch Level: December 2020 - January 2021
Software Version: F119_R034

What's changing:

Verizon wireless is pleased to announce a new software update for your Takumi eTalk. This update also includes the latest Android security updates and performance improvements.

Contacts outbound: Resolved an issue where calls couldn’t be made by highlighting a phone number in the contact list.

Prior to the update: After pressing the "Send" key, the phone couldn't make a voice call and remained on the contact screen.

After the update: Create a new contact or select a saved contact.

Press OK.

Press Send and the phone will make a call from the selected number.

Or scroll down to highlight the phone number.

Press Send and the phone will make a call from the selected number.

Texting after software update: Corrected an issue where text messages were failing due to an incorrect area code being appended, causing "…is a landline" to appear in error.

Prior to the update: Enter all 10 digits of the number and press OK (left). Or choose a saved contact and press OK (right).

The 10-digit phone number was automatically converted to a 7-digit number, deleting the area code.

For saved contacts, click the contact.

Enter the message body.

Select Send.

Because the phone number was converted to 7 digits, the network appended a primary 3-digit area code. The complete 10-digit number changed to (214) 123-4567 (left).

The network will send an error message to the phone, stating “… is a landline”, and the message fails to send (right).

After the update: Compose a new message with a 10-digit phone number (left). Press OK and the phone will display the 10-digit number (right).

Or select a saved contact from the list and press OK.

Enter the message body.

Select Send. The message should be sent to the actual 10-digit mobile number you entered or chose from your saved contacts. The original area code is retained and there is no “landline” error message.
