CARRIER ACCESS CHARGE (CAC)

A Carrier Access Charge (CAC) is a monthly recurring charge that applies to Switched Outgoing Long Distance service on each of the following presubscribed lines:

Line Type

Monthly Charge

Business line

$4.05

Centrex line

$0.20

PRI or Two-Way line

$0.41

A “presubscribed line” is an assigned telephone number that is automatically routed to the Company for Long Distance Service pursuant to Customer’s interexchange carrier selection with Customer’s Local Exchange Carrier (LEC).  Presubscribed lines are enabled with Company via switched access for the purpose of carrying Customer’s telecommunications long distance outbound service traffic.

A “Business line” is a presubscribed line that is used by Customer to access Company service via LEC-provided access services, but that is not a Centrex line or a Primary Rate Interface (PRI) or Two-Way line.

A “Centrex line” is a presubscribed line that is used by Customer to access Company service via LEC‑provided Central Office service.

A “PRI line” (also known as a “Two-Way line”) is a presubscribed Direct Inward Dial (DID) line that can carry Customer’s telecommunication outbound service traffic and is used by Customer to access Company service via LEC-provided dedicated access service.

The line type determination is based upon Customer’s certification or LEC-provided information.  If not identified by Customer certification or LEC-provided information, the line will be classified as a “Business line.”

The CAC will be waived for any line for which local exchange service is provided by an MCI Legacy company.
