Get global ready with one-stop device provisioning and management.

Verizon’s eUICC delivers secure, reliable connections for IoT and M2M devices.

As your business expands and you enter new markets around the globe, it can be a challenge to connect Internet of Things (IoT) and machine-to-machine (M2M) devices. These devices typically run on traditional SIM cards, which means they can support just one carrier’s profile. That’s where Embedded Universal Integrated Circuit Card (eUICC) technology can help.

With eUICC, you can localize SIM cards virtually—there’s no need to physically swap them out. That means you can connect IoT and M2M devices to another regional carrier over the network, which consolidates and simplifies network provisioning.

A single source for your connectivity needs

Verizon offers an eUICC solution that provides a secure domestic connectivity solution to IoT and M2M devices. Soon, Verizon will provide a global connectivity solution that will bundle with a centralized eUICC subscription management platform. The solution will feature a single SIM SKU that will allow you to virtually connect and manage devices in markets around the globe.

Our eUICC subscription management platform will let you maintain and manage eUICC profiles for each device all in one place, so you can enable, disable and delete profiles as needed. Plus, the platform’s automatic connectivity functions will help provide near-seamless device connections to partner carriers’ networks.

eUICC solution details

Using our eUICC solution, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) can install a single SIM SKU containing Verizon profiles (bootstrap and operational) set as default and reserved space for additional partner profiles.

The Verizon eUICC subscription platform offers remote provisioning architecture with the following features and capabilities:

  • Subscription Management—Secure Router (SM-SR):
Securely delivers the encrypted operator credentials to the eUICC and then, once the credentials are installed, remotely manages the eSIM thereafter (enable, disable and delete the credentials as necessary during the product’s lifetime).
  • Subscription Management—Data Preparer (SM-DP):
The eSIM profile is stored in the operator’s eSIM subscription management server, which is known as the SM-DP. The Verizon SM-SR generates an eSIM local profile download trigger in order to download the partner’s SM-DP.

International partners will download the local eSIM profile via the Verizon SM-SR and the partner SM-DP interface provided through the Verizon and partner IT systems. For domestic customers, the eSIM profile will be preloaded with the Verizon operational profile.

eUICC benefits

When you choose Verizon as your technology partner, you’ll get a simplified, consolidated eUICC experience that takes advantage of a global mobile network operator (MNO) partner ecosystem to deliver reliable wireless connectivity. Plus, Verizon eUICC provides:

  • Simplified management for multiple SIM cards
  • A preloaded profile to help ensure devices can be used immediately in domestic markets
  • Out-of-the-box connectivity to minimize device downtime
  • End-to-end security for IoT and M2M devices
  • The ability to use Verizon for both your network and subscription management needs, which helps reduce the cost of ownership and operations, and allows you to consolidate billing processes
  • Greater provisioning control and flexibility compared to traditional SIM cards
  • More freedom to choose equipment manufacturers and devices that work best for you
