Keeping crowds moving with Verizon and CrowdVision

When the time comes when we can come back together in large gatherings to share unique live experiences, CrowdVision’s advanced indoor analytics and Verizon 5G Edge with AWS® Wavelength can help improve venue experiences, while helping fans make smarter decisions.

  • Data collection

By leveraging wireless sensors deployed throughout a venue, combined with other downstream-processing anonymizing elements, CrowdVision can privately and anonymously—but accurately—measure everything from wait times to the physical spacing of patrons. 5G Ultra Wideband can provide the bandwidth needed to stream all of that valuable data.

“Fans want an enjoyable experience. No one wants to wait in long lines.”

—Sam Kamel
Chief Strategy Officer, CrowdVision

  • Data analytics

After it’s collected, data travels to AWS Wavelength compute and storage resources located on the edge of the Verizon network. There, the raw data is processed using artificial intelligence (AI)-powered machine learning that’s done in both parts of the cloud—near (mobile edge computing, or MEC) and far (standard regions)—and turned into useful business logic. These as-it-happens analytics can be used to make immediate and informed decisions on how to best keep people moving throughout the venue.

“Verizon 5G Edge has significantly opened the door for CrowdVision to be able to do rapid deployments with scalable infrastructure that is significantly superior to anything we would've been able to do in the past.”

—Ray Gibson
Vice President of Engineering, CrowdVision

  • Data presentation

Not only does this valuable data help venue operators with crowd control and flow, but the venue operators can  share this data directly with their patrons via the venue's mobile app. This can help patrons find the shortest lines or identify where the worst congestion is, empowering them to determine the quickest routes.
