Verizon Volunteer Program Data Privacy Notice

Introduction

The Verizon Volunteer Program (“Volunteer Program”) is a program that tracks and facilitates Verizon employees’ volunteer activities. Verizon Communication Inc. is the Controller of the personal data which the Volunteer Program collects and stores because it determines the purpose and means of data processing activities for the Volunteer Program. Verizon Communications Inc. is incorporated in the United States located at 1095 Avenue of the Americas, New York, New York 10036.

What information does Verizon collect, and why is it needed?

To participate in the Volunteer Program, Verizon requests your consent to collect personal data including your name, business contact details and your location for the purpose of administering the Volunteer Program and identifying volunteer opportunities near you. The Volunteer Program will also collect information about your volunteering activities through the Volunteer Program in order to maintain a record of your volunteer activities and we may take and share photos and names of volunteers on VZweb or in volunteer emails and newsletters. 

Who else will have access to my personal data?

Your personal data will be shared with and stored by Glipped, Inc. (DBA “InvolveSoft”) in the USA, which is the company that provides the portal and administers the Volunteer Program on Verizon’s behalf, and with any other third party which Verizon engages to provide this or a similar service.

Individuals who may have access to your personal data could include Verizon staff who need to have access because they are involved in running the Volunteer Program, and personnel at InvolveSoft or equivalent partners who have a need to know to perform their job functions. Those individuals may be located in your country of origin or beyond, including in countries outside the EEA.

How does Verizon protect my personal information?

Verizon has safeguards in place in accordance with applicable law to ensure that your personal data will, at all times and in all locations, be adequately protected to the standards required by applicable data protection laws.  International data transfers from the EU among the Verizon family of companies outside the EU are consistent with the Verizon Binding Corporate Rules and transfers to companies outside the Verizon group are protected by appropriate terms and conditions in the contract with that company.

How long will Verizon keep my personal information?

Any information you submit will be retained in accordance with Verizon’s Records Management Policy. Please note that your historical volunteer activity and/or personal/employment data will be stored for six (6) years after the date of your last volunteer activity in compliance with Verizon Retention Guidelines.

Withdrawing your consent and your right to object.

In certain circumstances, you may be permitted by law to withdraw your consent or object to Verizon’s use of your personal data and you may do so by contacting us by submitting the data subject request form. 

You should be aware that your participation in the Volunteer Program will end if you withdraw your consent or object to the processing because Verizon will no longer be able to administer your participation in the program.  The use of your personal data for the Volunteer Program before this point will not be affected.
