Happy Monday, V Team! On today’s edition of Up To Speed Live host Andy Choi shared a full news rundown.

Tackling a crisis with confidence

At Verizon, we’re known for running to a crisis and when we do, it’s the hours of training beforehand that gives our Verizon Response Team the ability to run to that crisis with confidence. This past week, our Major Emergency Response Incident Team (MERIT), which is part of the Verizon Response Team, took part in a critical simulation in Cary, N.C., involving a chemical spill of rocket fuel – this is part of the team’s annual HAZMAT recertification.

We shared a video of the simulation, and heard from MERIT lead Kelly Reed and Director of Business Continuity & Emergency Management Mark Paff.

In 2021, Verizon invested over $200 million in its network in North Carolina. Also in 2021, our Verizon Frontline Response Team has been deployed more than 30 times in support of public safety agencies in North Carolina to provide mission-critical communications capabilities to the first responders on the front lines of multiple emergency response operations.

VZPulse survey

V Team, we are well into the start of 3Q and it’s once again time to invite all employees to participate in a brief 3Q VZPulse survey that aims to ensure teams are addressing specific areas of opportunities across Verizon.

The survey is just three questions so it should only take about a minute to complete. You should be receiving the survey sometime today in an email from Gallup.

Our last survey had an 89% response rate, our highest ever on VZPulse, and we’re hoping to continue that momentum and reach a 100% response rate before the survey closes on August 22.

Xbox/Verizon Twitch event

Attention V Team gamers, there’s an epic event happening tonight at 6 p.m. ET. If you’re a true gamer you know that NPCs, or non-player characters, always have the intel and so we’re bringing some of those NPCs to life in a one-of-a-kind stream that celebrates Xbox at Verizon.

We're turning Twitch gaming celebrity AverageJonas into a playable character on a real-life quest through rooms that are inspired by popular Xbox games. He’ll need to solve a series of quests to get to a treasure chest, where a special guest will greet him with some amazing giveaways. Throughout the event, folks who engage on the Twitch chat will be rewarded with some epic Xbox prizes. This will be an immersive, one-of-a-kind stream that amplifies Verizon's Xbox launch excitement, as we continue to make our mark on the gaming community.

Remember, the fun kicks off tonight at 6 p.m. ET on AverageJonas’ Twitch channel.
