It’s Global Volunteer Week

Today marks the start of Global Volunteer Week and we’re proud to say that V Teamers around the globe have been working to make our world a better place, one hour at a time. Thanks to our efforts, we’ve contributed more than 1.1 million volunteer hours toward our collective 2.5 million-hour goal! During last year’s Global Volunteer week alone, we completed more than 27,000 hours of service.

This year, we’re encouraging all V Teamers to seize the hour together by participating in our volunteer featured events, including global clean-up challenges, giving a voice to autism, collection drives, ERG partner events, and more! Learn more on the Volunteer Portal and in today’s volunteer events newsletter.

Earth Day celebrations

Friday is Earth Day, and since we’re on the topic of volunteering, we’d like to shout out some of our amazing V Teamer volunteers worldwide. They’re living up to this year’s Earth Day theme of “Together, we protect the planet.”

From our Trash-Off event in Irving, Texas, to a habitat restoration event in Redmond, Washington, April’s earth-friendly V Team volunteering events began with a bang. And it’s been a truly global effort: In London, Amsterdam, and beyond, V Teamers also got into the act with incredible efforts of their own.

But the work isn’t over! Because Earth Day inspires opportunities to demonstrate, communicate and celebrate Verizon’s innovative environmental program, we encourage you to head to our Citizen Verizon Volunteers Portal to find an earth-friendly cause that’s meaningful to you.

Take Your Child to Work Day

Today we’re also kicking off Take Your Child to Work Day! It’s the perfect chance to show your kids what the V Team is all about. For two weeks, you’ll have the chance to participate in activities that will help your children learn about our company, your role as a V Teamer and opportunities to explore career possibilities. Take a look at all the details and activities listed here.

Another chance to win free concert tickets

A new week means a new chance to win free concert tickets! This week, we’re giving away tickets for an Aug. 11 concert at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta!

All you have to do to qualify is share your Verizon workspace selfies with us, and you might just win tickets to one of the most sought-after Live Nation concerts of the season. Whether you’re working from home, out serving our customers, or at one of our worksites, snap a pic and either send it to good@verizon.com, or tag @InsideVerizon on Instagram or Twitter. We’ve seen so many great work selfies, so keep them coming!

It’s all part of our “First Access” program, in partnership with Live Nation. “First Access,” the new presale ticket access for Verizon Up members, gives special access to coveted Live Nation tours before tickets go on sale to the general public. Verizon Up is free to join, easy to use and available via the My Verizon app. For more details, visit Verizon Up.
