Happy Friday! On today’s Up To Speed Live, host Raquel Wilson shared the following updates:

Up To Speed week in review

That brings us to today’s news:

Iowa storm relief

In response to the devastating tornadoes that ravaged parts of Iowa last weekend, The Verizon Foundation is donating $10,000 to the American Red Cross’ Iowa Region. For our consumer and small business customers in regions that were hit hardest, Verizon is providing unlimited calling, texting and data through March 12. See more details and eligible zip codes.

Want to help? Verizon’s wireless customers can do so by making a one-time, $10 donation to:

  • The American Red Cross by texting REDCROSS to 90999
  • The Salvation Army by texting GIVE to 52000

Please note: The donations will be applied to your wireless bill.

Extended Ukraine relief

We’ve extended call text and data relief in Ukraine through March 17 to help keep customers connected during these challenging times. As a reminder, Verizon is waiving international calling, texting and data roaming charges for consumer and small business wireless customers to and from Hungary, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Ukraine. We’re also waiving international charges to residential landline customers as well. You do not have to take any action to take advantage of these offers.

Additional help is available

We know this is a challenging time for all our employees who are impacted directly or indirectly by the ongoing situation in Ukraine. Our Human Resources team is committed to working with employees to provide support, and encourages you to speak with your manager to help get the support you need. We also have resources available through our EAP program for V Teamers who need assistance.

Improving public safety in Albuquerque

Verizon Frontline is partnering with the Albuquerque Police to help fight crime in real time. Verizon Frontline’s cloud-based Real-Time Response System recently was deployed to help public safety officials use data to respond to violent crimes more efficiently.

Protect your most valuable files via the Cloud

When’s the last time you backed up your photos? If it was ages ago (and even if it wasn’t), it’s a great time to sign up for Verizon Cloud. Most people don’t have a backup solution for files on their phone, tablet or computer. And we all know losing videos and photos can be devastating. With Verizon Cloud, you can get unlimited storage on the go and at home.

We’re talking truly unlimited storage for your phones, laptops and tablets – with continuous backup for an unlimited number of compatible devices. Plus, you can share your unlimited plan with up to four additional people, and there’s no need to pay for multiple storage accounts. And the Verizon Cloud app makes it all a seamless experience.

Even better? Right now, if you refer Verizon Cloud to your friends, you’ll get a one-time $10 credit for each friend who activates their own new Cloud subscription. You could earn up to $100 off your Verizon bill per year by successfully referring up to 10 friends who activate new accounts! Just go to the App, click on the Menu, then the “Refer A Friend” section to get started. You can find additional Verizon Cloud info here.

Home hunters demand reliable, fast connectivity

Here’s a fun fact: According to a new Verizon/Morning Consult study, more than half of recent movers wanted to live in an area with better infrastructure for fast home internet and reliable cell service. Fortunately, Verizon gives people more choice for home internet in more places with the expansion of Verizon’s 5G Home Internet, along with Fios and LTE Home Internet.

Parenting in a Digital World

Calling all parents! Have you checked out Verizon’s Parenting in a Digital World Portal? It’s the perfect place for parents to get tips and guidance to help kids get the most out of tech while staying safe. The portal covers topics like parental controls, screen time, wearables, cyberbullying, education, gaming, digital-media literacy, social media and more.

And to make the portal even better, Verizon wants to interview parents of 2- to 18-year-old kids to get parents’ input on future plans to improve the portal. If that sounds like you, check out this brief survey.

Breaking the bias

Women’s History Month roars on as we continue championing our theme of #BreaktheBias. Mark Tina, VP of Sales for Verizon Business Markets, and his team collaborated with Girls in Tech, an organization that aims to erase the gender gap in tech. The event afforded women interested in tech and sales the opportunity to learn career advice from sales leaders.

By the way, if you missed the big event last Tuesday, do yourself a favor and watch the Women’s CoLab replay. It was jam-packed with advice and thought-provoking conversations with leaders. As suggested during the event, many women have since submitted inspiring notes to their future selves about their hopes, dreams and future plans through our #DearMe campaign. There’s still time to reflect and write your own #DearMe letter and tag your friends so they can participate, too!

Have a great weekend!
