On today’s 1Q21 Earnings Webcast, CEO Hans Vestberg, the leadership team and host Andy Choi shared our strong performance across our strategic businesses.

Before discussing the results, Hans discussed yesterday’s verdict in the Derek Chauvin case for the murder of George Floyd, along with the need to continue raising awareness of the racial injustice that so many millions of people face every day around the globe.

“I’m proud of how V Teamers have taken action over the past year, not that our work is finished,” Hans said. “But diversity and inclusion is such a strength for us, and it’s really making a difference for us as a company.”

Turning to 1Q, Hans reiterated the importance of our success in the C-Band spectrum auction, a game-changing investment in our future. He also celebrated our three operating groups, all of which were able to grow revenue in the first quarter following our strategy of “growth, growth and growth.”

The numbers

CFO Matt Ellis shared our overall financial results, which put us in a great position for the rest of the year. Our overall revenue was up 4% year over year. Matt also pointed out that, for the first time since we initiated Verizon 2.0, all three of our business groups have revenue growth year over year in the first quarter.

‘Taking care of business’ panel

Host Diana Alvear moderated a panel looking at all of the different ways we are “Taking Care of Business.” The panel included V Teamers talking about the following topics:

  • Small & Medium Business Opening Up - Business Sales Director Luis Cruz
  • Helping Women Make Up Lost Ground - Corporate Communications Director Marie McGehee
  • Return to Live Events - Sponsorships and Live Events Director Christina Hull
  • Open Doors/Return to Retail - Solutions Manager Theresa Fox

Credo Award recognition

VP of Network and Field Operations Yoli Stancil beamed in from our Bohemia, NY, garage, where she recognized Field Technician Nick Gesa for going above and beyond the call of duty. Nick not only is a military veteran with more than 20 years of experience at Verizon, he also recently ran into a burning building to save lives. Congratulations Nick on your well-deserved Credo Award.

Q&A

Andy took live questions from V Teamers for our leadership team. Ronan Dunne, Christy Pambianchi, Kyle Malady, Tami Erwin, Diego Scotti, Guru Gowrappan and Craig Silliman all fielded questions.

Hans concluded by reminding us that the pandemic is not over and to remain vigilant. He also thanked V Teamers for their hard work and emphasized our strategy of scaling our platform is working, and the things that we stand for are more important than ever as we move the world forward together.
