On today’s Up To Speed, we hear from our friends on the Network team, who have been hard at work getting this year’s Super Bowl host city of Tampa Bay connected for the big weekend. Planning for the event started all the way back in 2019. Two years later, the team has installed over $80 million in infrastructure upgrades, 70 miles of high-speed fiber and 600 small cell nodes, improving our 4G LTE network and our 5G Ultra Wideband coverage in many of the key public spaces in the Tampa area, including in and around Raymond James Stadium, Tampa International Airport and Sparkman’s Wharf.

“Our mission at Verizon is to put cutting-edge technology in the hands of public safety agencies and our consumer base, so they can utilize not only the technology that is here today but technology that will come in the future,” explained Colin Denney, Managing Partner - Business Sales.

Much of the work being done to better connect football fans this weekend has resulted in permanent upgrades that will benefit the citizens of Tampa and visitors to the area for years to come.

Thanks to everyone who has worked on this huge undertaking, overcoming a host of challenges along the way. For the fans who make it to this year’s Super Bowl, they’re in for an unforgettable experience.
