On today’s Up To Speed Live, CMO Diego Scotti joined host Diana Alvear and shared the following updates:

Forty-five critical days

As always, the holiday shopping season will be a huge part of our push to the end of the year. Diego shared a new holiday-themed spot that shows how we’re showing up for customers this year with:

  • A variety of offers and new devices
  • Unlimited plans that now include 5G at no extra cost
  • Numerous entertainment offerings from gaming to Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+

Thanksgiving experiences

Thanksgiving is an important time to celebrate our brand. For the fifth year in a row, we’re joining forces with NBC and Macy’s for a livestream of the 2020 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade from New York City. We’ll be powering 5G and AR experiences that, without in-person spectators this year, will bring viewers as close as they can get to the floats and performances. The livestream will also showcase our holiday promotions and devices.

Verizon Visa Card

Don’t forget to let your friends and family know about our Verizon Visa Card, a great holiday shopping tool that offers tremendous value. Card holders can earn $100 off their Verizon billand Verizon Dollars, including 4% on gas and groceries, 3% on dining (including delivery), and 2% on Verizon purchases to be used on things like devices, accessories or to lower the cost of a monthly bill. If you don’t have the card yet, it only takes a few minutes to apply online.

A bag to brag about

Last week, we launched our most sustainable retail bag ever as part of our overall push for a healthier planet. The bag is 100% recyclable, made with only paper, water-based glue and soy inks, and made from nearly 90% post-consumer waste.

As part of Citizen Verizon, the company has made major commitments to Climate Protection, including being carbon neutral by 2035. Verizon also joined the World Economic Forum’s Trillion Trees Platform, doubling our tree planting commitment from 10 million to 20 million by 2030.

Digital inclusion

Students, parents and teachers are still participating in remote learning and the actions we took back at the start of the school year are just as critical today. Earlier this week, we announced an expansion of Verizon Innovative Learning and our commitment to providing resources for students and teachers. This included:

  • Teacher Training Pathways – a free online platform that will give over 3 million teachers tools for digital education.
  • A new Verizon Innovative Learning model that provides hotspots and professional development to Title 1 schools that already have 1:1 device programs within their schools but lack reliable home internet – helping us scale the reach of the program even further.
  • Verizon Innovative Learning won the 2020 U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Citizens Award for Best Commitment to Education. The award recognizes businesses that are making a significant impact in improving educational outcomes for students around the world. Congratulations to the whole team.

Giving back

This month marks a year since the launch of our employee volunteer program and our goal of reaching 2.5 million volunteer hours by 2025. We ended the month of October having engaged more than 62,000 Verizon employees, who recorded over 418,00 volunteer hours working with over 300 of our non-profit partners.

We’re making steady progress towards our goal. With only a few weeks left in 2020, please do what you can to support the causes and communities that need our help.

#CallForKindness

The “Call for Kindness” campaign launched today, which shines a light on our 16,000 frontline employees who are keeping our stores running and our communities connected. The campaign helps us tell the stories of who our employees are “behind the mask.” There will be dedicated signage in our stores that include a QR code that connects to a microsite, where customers can see video profiles of some of our employees.

Capital One is partnering with us for the campaign. In addition, we’re joined in this campaign by the creators of The Antidote, a feature documentary that begins streaming on Amazon Prime tomorrow and weaves together stories of kindness, decency and the power of community in a time we need it most. As a Verizon employee, you’ll have access to watch the documentary for free even if you don’t have Prime. Watch for an e-card soon with details.

A reminder that the campaign applies to all V Teamers and everyone can get involved. Snap a selfie and post to social media with a description of who you are behind the mask with #ACallForKindness.

Finally, as we kick off this holiday season, let’s remember that kindness always wins, and that together we are unstoppable.
