Helping small businesses
Andy enjoyed a cup of coffee this morning from Joey No-Nuts Cafe, one of the small businesses in Hoboken, NJ that’s using the power of Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband to bounce back from challenges related to COVID-19.
“The 5G and the faster connection has been a huge help, speeding up transactions and keeping things flowing.” said Jeff Dyer of Joey No Nuts Cafe.
As retail stores reopen with an emphasis on outdoor dining and shopping, curbside pick-up and online orders, Verizon and TechUnited are teaming up with small businesses to find ways that 5G technology can help solve some of their operational pain points brought on by the pandemic.
TechUnited, which empowers entrepreneurs and innovators with programs, funding and networking opportunities, worked with Verizon to select five small businesses within Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband mobility service footprint.
Election Day
Here in the United States, Election Day is tomorrow. As you heard first on Up To Speed, Verizon is giving our V Teamers four hours of paid time off to cast their ballot or participate in election-related volunteering. A reminder for our leaders: please take a moment to work with your teams to schedule those hours, and let’s all make sure we exercise our right to vote.
If you’ve already cast your ballot and want to use those four hours to give back on Election Day, remember to look at our Volunteer Portal. We’ve got all kinds of ways you can give back and help others voice their choice tomorrow.
We caught up with two V Teamers who are first time voters: Cameron Thomas, a Solutions Specialist from Monchs Corner, SC, who just turned 21 in February and Josue Silva, Telesales, Las Vegas, NV, who became a U.S. citizen in 2019. Josue felt a great sense of pride as he cast his ballot a few days ago. He reminds us that every vote counts and that we should make our voices heard.
Speaking of election night, tomorrow you’ll want to head to Yahoo to check out the Yahoo 2020 Election Center. There you’ll find new features like maps of key races, including the presidential, senate & house races -- with voting results updated in real-time. You’ll also see live reports from our Yahoo election teams and a 'Key States' feature that breaks down swing state results. The Yahoo 2020 Election Center is the place to go for the most comprehensive coverage of one of the most important nights in American history.
