On today’s Up To Speed Live, Andy was joined by HR leader Christy Pambianchi and Mel Healey, a member of our Board of Directors. They shared the following updates.
Insights from Mel
Melanie “Mel” Healey joined our board in 2011. She has been recognized by Fortune and Forbes as one of the most powerful women in business.
Mel discussed the current business environment (“one of the most unpredictable and difficult years that any leader has had to lead through”), the staying power of our Credo, the importance of the reliability of our network, the changes that 5G will bring to our business and the critical need to understand and serve the Latin customer, the fastest growing segment in the American market.
Mel may not look or sound like a traditional Latina, but her mother and grandmother were born in Chile, her grandfather was from Peru and her kids were born in Mexico. She spent many years living in Mexico and Brazil and speaks fluent Portuguese and Spanish as well as English.
“As people from Latin countries, we are as diverse as Americans are from New York, the Midwest or California, but at the same time there is a lot that unites us,” said Mel. “And when we focus on the things that unite us, that’s when we can move the world forward.”

Welcome to Roxanne S. Austin, our newest board member.
We want to welcome Roxanne S. Austin to our Board of Directors. Roxanne is President and Chief Executive Officer of Austin Investment Advisors, a private investment and consulting firm, and chairs the U.S. Mid-Market Investment Advisory Committee of EQT Partners. Roxanne also serves on the board of multiple other corporations, including Abbott Laboratories Inc., AbbVie, Inc. and CrowdStrike Inc..
“We are excited to welcome Roxanne to our board,” said Hans. “We know that her strong expertise in finance, strategic planning and cyber security and her knowledge of telecommunications and media will be extremely valuable as we continue to focus on our strategic direction as a technology leader.”
Latest ‘Emergency’ ad
Andy kicked off the show by airing our latest spot, which underscores how we hold ourselves to a higher standard. We test and retest everything, especially when it comes to equipment and processes that first responders rely on in emergency situations when lives hang in the balance. We stand ready for whatever 2020 throws our way.
