Today’s Up To Speed broadcast was live from the Leadership Forum, where Andy caught up with Hans for the latest updates.

United Nations sustainability goals

Hans shared that he has been participating in several United Nations General Assembly events, including talking to ten CEOs on sustainability goals that were set out in 2015 to be accomplished by 2030. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic and other factors, we’re further from reaching those targets so we have to continue to work hard toward finding solutions.

Leadership Forum

At the Leadership Forum, Hans and the senior leaders are sharing all that our Network will be executing in the latter part of 2020 as well as discussing our employees and how we’re doing as a company based on the most recent VZPulse+ results.

As for racial and social equality, we continue to work and take action as a company. “We’re not saying we’re perfect, but we continue to work to be better,” said Hans. “We thank all of you for staying engaged and helping us move forward together.”

Q&A with Hans

What can you share about one of your favorite leadership principles?

Hans: There are many principles, but above all you have to be curious. If you’re not curious enough as a leader about the people you are leading, that’s a problem.

In terms of empathetic leadership, how can we continue to show up for our customers?

Hans: The pandemic is taking a toll on people, coupled with an economic downturn and the racial justice issues. They’re all important. The way we address these issues today will be felt for years to come. We’ll continue to show up and be guided by our four stakeholders. It’s not a sprint. It’s a marathon. We need to continue to support one another and our partners.

What are your biggest takeaways from the forum for Q4?

Hans: The excitement that we feel here among the leaders is that we have done the work that has put us in a good position. The possibilities with Verizon 2.0 and how we’ve dealt with these unprecedented times makes us proud of all that we’re doing.

5G Home expansion

In other news, Verizon 5G Home Internet is expanding with a launch in Minneapolis and St. Paul set for this Thursday, October 1. That brings our total to eight 5G Home Internet cities. At the same time, we’re introducing new, cutting-edge 5G equipment, called the 5G Internet Gateway. Stay tuned to Up To Speed later this week for more information.

Our new ad is out

Our new spot debuted this past weekend. “Verizon vs. Verizon” shows how we are the ones who set the standards when it comes to network superiority and reliability. The spot highlights our hundreds of field engineers who are out every day evaluating our real world performance. Why do we continue to be the best? Because nobody tests us like we test us.

How to present via video conference

Speaking of performance, our very own Diana Alvear will be presenting part two of her Inside Verizon LinkedIn Live series Ready and Relaxed: Public Speaking and Performance tomorrow at 1 PM ET/10 AM PT. Learn how to be at your best when presenting virtually.

LG Wing

George introduced us to the revolutionary new LG Wing, a smartphone unlike anything we’ve seen before. Its innovative multi-screen form factor, plus high-performance 5G connectivity and a suite of content creation tools, enhances productivity and fuels every passion. That extra screen offers a solid one-handed grip which improves video capture and provides more viewing space. Now you can stream while surfing, navigate while calling, and so much more with compatible apps. Visit verizonwireless.com to learn more and preorder LG Wing on October 1.
