On today’s edition of Up To Speed, Katie was joined by Hans and Christy who shared the following updates:

VZPulse+ survey results

Hans and Christy shared the following key insights from the survey.

  • More than 115,000 V Teamers shared their ideas and feedback, which accounts for 85% of our organization. That’s right in line with the median response rate for other Gallup clients who have been doing this a lot longer than us.
  • We also landed in the 75th percentile for employee engagement compared to other companies in Gallup’s database.
  • On Friday, August 21, leaders with five or more responses will get their results and access to Gallup's data dashboard. We will also provide additional training so leaders are prepared to amplify your feedback.
  • If your leader does not bring up the survey results, Hans urges all V Teamers to proactively reach out to their leaders.

Virtual March on Washington

As we strengthen our engagement, we want to identify opportunities that bring us together for the greater good. August 28 marks the 57th anniversary of the March on Washington, where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his iconic "I have a dream" speech. While we have yet to realize Dr. King's dream of equality, we have the opportunity to pave the way for progress. And it starts with one step forward, together.

On August 28 at 12 ET/9 AM PT, we will yield our time for Up to Speed Live to host a company-wide virtual March on Washington in partnership with our BOLD employee resource group. All V Teamers who participate will contribute to Verizon's company-wide goal of 2.5 million volunteer hours by 2025. You can sign up through our Volunteer Portal.

For V Teamers located outside of the United States, please sign up and lace up to complete the walk at 12 PM local time so you can join us in solidarity. No matter where you are in the world, you can make a difference.

Forbes Best Employers for Women

Big news! We were recently named by Forbes as a Best Employer for Women. This is after Forbes awarded us top honors for our response to COVID-19. We continue to be recognized by the best measures in the industry because we are committed both in action and practice to shape a more equitable and inclusive workplace. We will continue to reinforce and strengthen our gender equality practices so that women have the correct support systems to thrive both personally and professionally. That means we cannot rest, because when you are committed to equality, you are committed to accountability. And there's always more work to be done.

Mix & Match

Earlier today, we made some big news with updates to our Mix & Match Unlimited Plans - letting customers unlimit their entertainment. Beginning August 20, Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ will be included in select Mix & Match Unlimited wireless plans, along with features like Apple Music and the ultra-fast speeds of 5G Ultra Wideband. Andy caught up with Verizon Consumer Group Marketing leader Frank Boulben to learn more. You can watch that conversation and get all of the details on the plans here.

Census Counts

V Teamers also have the opportunity to help make sure all voices are heard, and represented, by participating in a text bank as part of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights’ campaign Census Counts. Participants will connect via text to encourage historically underrepresented community members to complete the census before the September 30 deadline.

Hurricane preparedness

Finally, today at 1:30 PM ET/10:30 AM PT, join our own Kate Jay as she goes LIVE with Accuweather to talk about the best storm preparation tips for an already very active hurricane season. You can check that out on Twitter @VerizonNews.
