As a Managing Client Partner for the Media, Entertainment and Technology vertical within the Verizon Business Group, Deb Geno-DeSantis was used to being in constant motion. A big - and favorite - part of her day was interacting face-to-face with colleagues and clients.

Then the pandemic hit.

“Since COVID and shelter in place, we’ve been spending more time behind screens and on conference calls, and I think it’s really important that we find ways to get ourselves moving and ensure that we all stay connected.”

Deb made changes to the way she and her team work together. “I’ve enacted a Fridays walk-and-talk with my one-on-ones on video,” said Deb, who often takes along her labradoodle, Lance, for the morning strolls. “It’s important that we get creative in how we practice self-care. I think getting out and moving has really made a difference.”

Deb has welcomed some of the changes brought on by the crisis, especially the extra time she gets with her husband and kids.

“As we move into the next phase of the new normal, the lesson learned is really to appreciate and keep some of the behaviors, connecting with our kids, doing our bike rides and time spent together,” Deb said. “We’re learning a new way to work, but it’s really grounded in the basics of spending time with people we love, like our family, while remaining close to the people we work with.”

After 27 years with the company, Deb is still excited to hit the ground running every morning. “To me, the motivation to keep balancing all the balls that we do is to be passionate about what you do and stay positive.”
