Classroom Zoom Calls. Maybe a one-on-one lesson with your 2nd grader. Perhaps it's just a simple text. These days classrooms are empty. But teachers are still connecting with young people and making a difference during a time when children need that connection more than ever.

Show your gratitude for teachers nationwide.

This week marks Teacher Appreciation Week, and now's the chance to share your gratitude for the educators going above and beyond. Here's how you can get the entire family involved to celebrate and say thanks to teachers:

Step 1

Have your kids make a sign, write a letter, or tell us what they love about their teachers.

Step 2

Send us a photo or video that will warm our hearts and show gratitude for teachers. You can tag @VZUptoSpeed on social media or send them to good@verizon.com. We'll share these stories throughout the week to express our pride for teachers.

Our commitment to the classroom.

Championing education is not new to Verizon. We have been on the frontlines of bridging the digital divide and working shoulder to shoulder with teachers to provide tools and resources that will help students gain the confidence and skills they need to succeed. In response to COVID-19, teachers had to adopt a new way of engaging their students and prove that a classroom is more than a physical space, it's a community. To support teachers and students during this challenging time, the V Team stepped up in a big way.

We're helping 14 million students connect to the world. With our New York Times partnership, we're giving every high school in America free digital access to The Times. Help teachers in your district by alerting them to this awesome offer.

Through the Verizon Innovative Learning program, we're supporting over 100,000 students and teachers by tripling their data allowances, from 10GB/month to 30GB/month through June 30.

When we found out that one in five students in California does not have the connectivity they need to participate in distance learning, we sprang into action to offer unlimited Internet connectivity at a discounted rate for up to 250,000 underserved students.

We also expanded Those Who Serve, offering teachers, nurses and their families discounted mobile and home plans as a way to say thank you.

Want to help?

Volunteering is a great way to show your gratitude to teachers and provide additional support to their students. There are many virtual opportunities within our Volunteer Portal to help students excel in their studies and beyond. Check out Upchieve, Nepris, and INCO for tutoring and mentoring options.

If the most valuable investment we have is educated minds, then our greatest asset is teachers. While it's still unclear on when students will once again spill into the hallways and fill classrooms, the need for teachers and those connections won't change. Let's share our thanks for the educators who are shaping tomorrow's innovators so they can solve the challenges we are facing today.
