As our world continues to change with the new reality that COVID-19 brings, I am inspired by the extraordinary acts of selflessness, commitment and kindness shown by V Teamers in response to our virtual volunteer opportunities. Over the past two weeks, there have been 11,000+ sign-ups across our Volunteer Portal, with many employees eagerly offering their time and skills across multiple causes.
We have seen employees volunteer in teams to write letters, sew masks or print shields during lunch, involve family members as citizen scientists, and finish a full day of demands only to tutor under-resourced students late into the evening.
This week marks National Volunteer Week in the U.S as well as Earth Day globally. No matter where you are in the world, there are opportunities to give back and have an immediate impact. While V Teamers never need a call to arms to do the right thing, communities who were vulnerable before the pandemic are falling further behind. Now, more than ever, the world needs all the good we can offer.
Some of you may wonder, “Will my actions matter?” The answer is a resounding yes. Every time you sign up to volunteer, you are contributing to Verizon’s global impact.
