Up To Speed’s Volunteer Draft

In honor of tonight’s NFL draft, we’d like to toast the ultimate team sport - volunteering - and “draft’ some of our favorite V Team volunteer champions.

Gloria Jackson (Supervisor, Tech Customer Service, Hamilton, NJ)
This Fios customer service tech does it all and can pop in wherever she’s needed. Crisis Text Line, love for the elderly, Be My Eyes, and she’s a Red Cross virtual case worker. They call us Jersey strong here in the Garden State, and Gloria’s volunteer game makes us even stronger!

Lani Tweddle (Associate Manager, Executive Assistant, Verizon Media team, Sydney, Australia)
Lani is a volunteer champion in Australia, helping others with their online resumes so they can get their next job, and with any remaining spare time she’s helping to count penguins on Zooniverse.

Claude-Xavier White (Marketing Specialist, London, UK)
At 17, Xavier started his own LGBT rights organization. Today, he’s helping the group Generations Working Together with digital inclusion. When it comes to giving back, Xavier is an example we can all learn from.

We hope these volunteers inspire you to give and help reach our goal of 2.5 million volunteer hours by 2025. Make sure to look for detailed profiles on the web featuring our company’s most dedicated volunteers. We invite you to take a moment to read a few thoughts on giving back from chief corporate social responsibility officer Rose Stuckey Kirk.

Trick shot challenge

We know it’s been hard for some to get their sports fix lately, but there’s no reason why we can’t make the highlight reel ourselves! That’s why we’re asking for your best sports highlights. Show off your skills or try to make that one in a million shot. We wanna see it!

Use bats, balls, hoops, sticks, whatever you need to show us what you got. Send your trick shots and highlights to good@verizon.com and we’ll break down the top plays from our talented V Team!

Tell us what you think of Up To Speed.
