It’s hurricane season. In today’s episode, Steve Van Dinter meets up with John Rodriguez from the Network Assurance team to get a tour of a Verizon “super switch” in Florida - think of it as the brains of the Network that gets information where it needs to go. And in this case, the facility is built to withstand a Category 5 hurricane.
Steve also gets a look at some of the temporary Network assets that Verizon is able to deploy quickly in the event of a hurricane or natural disaster to restore coverage quickly - from a satellite picocell on trailer (SPOT) to a cell on light truck (COLT) and more.
