High-speed broadband has expanded in Upstate New York

ALBANY, NY – Fios, Verizon’s 100% fiber optic network is now available in parts of Schenectady, and Washington counties, New York. This deployment of high-speed broadband service was made possible through the company’s partnership with New York State and the FCC through the New NY Broadband Program. 

Julie Slattery, vice president of network and field operations for Verizon, and community leaders celebrated the launch recently at the Duanesburg home of Debbie and Laverne Fish, the first customers to officially sign up for the new service.

“We are really excited to be the first in the area to get this service,” said Debbie Fish. “Giving our kids access to this amazing technology provides them with the tools they need to help them be better connected and compete in today’s world.”

As Fios high-speed service is rolled out to those communities where Verizon was named the designated provider by the New NY Broadband Program, customers will be able to choose from a variety of plans.
