ORLANDO, FL – Verizon, a leading innovator in public safety communications, has teamed with Axon, the global leader in connected law enforcement technologies, to bring increased connectivity to public safety solutions for the benefit of first responders and the communities they serve with Axon Body 3. The new body-worn camera featuring this connectivity was announced at the International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference, which is underway in Orlando.

"Public safety continues to work with Verizon because of a distinct track record of meeting public safety needs for decades," says Mike Maiorana, senior vice president for public sector, Verizon. "Working together with Axon only helps Verizon better support law enforcement officials with cutting-edge technology on the nation's largest and most reliable 4G LTE network."

Axon’s first connected body camera, Axon Body 3, will feature real-time situational awareness with live streaming, gunshot detection and the ability to preview and upload critical evidence in real time from the field. The device will be connected through Verizon’s public safety private core, a software-defined network that intelligently manages traffic between commercial and public safety customers and serves as a platform for enhanced network access, secure applications, and value-added services.

“This relationship with Verizon is crucial for providing critical data communication services to Axon customers in the U.S.” says Axon CEO and founder, Rick Smith. “The wireless connectivity on the Axon Body 3 will help increase safety for officers with access to evidence in real time.”

The Axon Body 3 will connect securely on Verizon’s award winning network: the nation’s largest and most reliable 4G LTE network, covering more than 2.5 million square miles and more than 98% of Americans with a more than 450,000 square mile coverage advantage over the nearest competitor. Since 2000, Verizon has invested more than $126 billion in its network. Verizon is committed to supporting interoperability and open technology standards with other wireless providers who provide public safety products and solutions.
