It was supposed to be a Spring Break they would never forget. It became all that and more.

This is a moment that matters.
Ann and three college friends took a spring break trip to hike the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. All was going well until the weather took a drastic change -- a massive snowstorm with 70 mile-per-hour winds and bone chilling cold. They had to hike 12 miles down a mountain in an attempt to avoid frostbite and hypothermia.
Still 20 miles from the nearest road, Ann looked at her phone to see full service.
We were able to call search and rescue, avoid frostbite, and live to tell the tale. My mom was crying when I called her, I was crying when I heard her crying. Everyone was so excited we didn’t know how to handle it.

A couple hours after being rescued, while sitting in the airport to return home, Ann shared this email with us.
Good Evening,
I am not with a marketing or advertising business, however, my life experience with Verizon is the greatest marketing ad yet.
Unfortunately, while backpacking with three other girls, we got caught in a snowstorm in the mountains of Colorado. We stayed through the night and had to hike 12 miles down out of the mountain in an attempt to avoid frostbite and hypothermia (leaving at 4:30am).
This is where you guys come in... we’re still like 20 miles from the nearest road and here I am, with full four bars of extended Verizon service. Only Verizon had service. We were able to call search and rescue, avoid frostbite, and live to tell the tale. My mom was crying when I called her, I was crying when I heard her crying. Everyone was so excited we didn’t know how to handle it. Without the signal we would have had to spend another night in the wilderness of Colorado and probably wouldn’t have made it out.
(Yes we were prepared for the cold weather, just not the snow and 70 MPH winds that we experienced).
Thank you for the time and I hope you at least got a laugh out of our almost deadly adventure.
Ann D.
