NEW YORK -- More than 170,000 Verizon employees worldwide want to support our friends and family in Ecuador and Japan who have been impacted by the massive 7.8 and 7.0 earthquakes. Verizon is offering free wireless and wireline calling from the U.S. to Ecuador and Japan to connect with family and friends.

  • Home wireline telephone customers will incur no charges to Japan from their U.S. landlines on April 14 through 18, 2016, and from the U.S. to Ecuador on April 16 through 18, 2016 (applicable taxes and surcharges will apply).
  • Wireless users will incur no charges for texts or international long distance calls originating from the U.S. to Japan on April 14 through 18, 2016, and from the U.S. to Ecuador from April 16 through 18, 2016 (applicable taxes and surcharges will apply).

In addition, Verizon Wireless customers who wish to help with relief efforts in Ecuador and/or Japan can donate via text with the short codes below and $10 will be added to your wireless phone bills as a donation to relief effort(s) after confirmation with your billing zip code.

  • To support UNICEF’s relief efforts Ecuador, text the word RELIEF to 864233 and $10 will be added to your Verizon Wireless bill upon confirmation with your billing zip code.
  • To support Global Giving’s relief efforts in Japan, text the word JAPAN to 80100 and $10 will be added to your Verizon Wireless bill upon confirmation with their billing zip code.
