NEW YORK - As the April 15 deadline for filing income taxes approaches, the Internal Revenue Service recently reported that more people have filed their taxes electronically earlier this year than last.
Consumers should take special safety precautions before submitting personal and financial data over the Internet, especially during the peak income tax filing season. Verizon customers can help arm themselves against potential losses and problems simply by ordering the Verizon Internet Security Suite (VISS), which includes some features not found in all off-the-shelf computer-protection software programs.
Offering features that are competitive with those of other Internet security software products, VISS has a large menu of protection services - updated every few hours - including virus scans, a pop-up blocker, privacy filter, spyware and malware controls. In addition to these tools, a parental control feature is included for managing content on a user's computer.
Verizon offers two affordable options of its VISS protection to protect up to three computers in a customer's home. Verizon customers can order VISS for an annual fee of $59.99, or on a monthly basis for $5.99
The Verizon Internet Security Suite can be quickly downloaded and activated. To learn more, log on to the VISS site.
