NEW YORK - Verizon has selected Terri Dean, region president for Verizon's National Operations South Region, to assume the role of president of Verizon Connected Solutions. Dean replaces Bob Burich who retired March 1.

As president of Verizon Connected Solutions, Dean assumes responsibility for building and maintaining the company's broadband home networking services and commercial wiring product lines. Dean also will head the National Buried Service Wire Group, which provides buried service wire and cable location services for Verizon.

Dean will have offices in Philadelphia and Beltsville, Md., the headquarters for Verizon Connected Solutions.

"Terri has the right experience to ensure that Verizon Connected Solutions doesn't miss a beat in its mission to bring all the power of the nationwide telecommunications network into the home," said Valarie Shreve, senior vice - president - Customer Operations, Verizon National Operations. "She has been involved with Verizon Connected Solutions from the start, making her a natural fit and her knowledge of the business and our employees will serve us well."

Dean began her career with Bell of Pennsylvania in 1977 and has served in a variety of increasingly responsible positions in operations, operator services, marketing and sales. Prior to her current position, she was director - Complementary Sales Channels for the Business Solutions Group. From 1997 to 1998, Dean was general manager-Field Operations for Bell Atlantic Communications and Construction Services, Inc., now known as Verizon Connected Solutions. Dean holds a bachelor's degree in sociology and anthropology from Chatham College, in Pittsburgh.

Burich was responsible for creating and growing Verizon Connected Solutions since its creation in 1995.

"Bob was instrumental in founding the Verizon Connected Solutions business unit and developing it into the successful enterprise it is today," said Shreve. "Bob has made important leadership contributions throughout his long career and has always been a strong advocate for excellence in customer service and teamwork. We wish Bob the very best in his retirement."

Burich's 29-year career included assignments for Verizon, Bell Atlantic, AT&T and Western Electric, as well as two international assignments for Bell Atlantic. Before becoming the head of Verizon Connected Solutions, he was operations vice president-Consumer South and was responsible for installation and maintenance, and cable maintenance for Bell Atlantic in the mid-Atlantic region. He held numerous leadership positions during his career, including vice president-Broadband Operations and vice president-Logistics.
