DALLAS - Verizon Yellow Pages ranked No. 1 in usage share in Manhattan and in Washington, D.C., beating all other competitors in the market, according to Yellow Pages Market Reporter (YPMR) - the new Yellow Pages market measurement service from Knowledge Networks/SRI (KN/SRI).

"We work hard year-round to be the Yellow Pages of choice in each of our markets," said Jim Palma, director of marketing services for Verizon Information Services. "We are pleased that the first wave of syndicated research validates our efforts."

Verizon Yellow Pages also ranked No. 1 in usage share in the Bronx and Brooklyn markets.

Other advertising vehicles, such as TV and radio, use Nielsen and Arbitron to uniformly measure market share. Now, the Yellow Pages industry has YPMR to validate performance in the market.

"We look forward to seeing more results in other markets," Palma said. "This is a huge step for the Yellow Pages industry. Customers, including national advertisers and agencies, now have uniform usage data from all publishers in the market. This is another good tool for them to use in making advertising buying decisions."

Palma said Verizon thanks consumers in Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx and Washington, D.C., for their confidence in the Verizon Yellow Pages. "Verizon Yellow Pages is committed to our markets and to providing our advertisers the best possible return on investment. We also want to provide consumers with the most advanced Yellow Pages products - both print and online with SuperPages.com - in the industry," he said.
