NEW YORK - With just a click of the mouse, Spanish-speaking consumers can now take advantage of Verizon's new Spanish-language online-ordering capability for DSL Internet access services. Consumers can visit http://espanol.verizon.com to check if their telephone number qualifies for Verizon DSL, without an obligation to purchase. Then they can complete the entire ordering process online, in Spanish.

Verizon recently launched the in-language Web site to make it easier for Spanish-speaking customers to obtain information about Verizon Online DSL services and products. The site now features an easy ordering function combined with the convenience of at-home shopping. Customers can quickly obtain answers, select speeds and plans, and complete an order.

"From our market research, we have found that Hispanic broadband users are looking for an end-to-end in-language experience," said Patricia Zerdan, senior marketing manager, Verizon. "Now with Verizon's new offering, Spanish-speaking customers can learn more about Verizon DSL offers, get pricing information and order the product -- all in-language."

Verizon Online service features a variety of prices and speeds, including a consumer DSL service that's priced lower than many dial-up plans. For a limited time in most areas, subscribers who sign up for a year can access the Web at connection speeds up to 768 Kbps (kilobits per second) downstream and 128 Kbps upstream for only $14.95 per month. Additionally, customers who sign up online will also receive the first month free for a limited time only.

Verizon Online is the only major Internet service provider in the country that offers its customers a choice of Web portals, including Yahoo! and MSN® Premium. Subscribers have access to a wide array of exciting content, such as music, games, videos, nine e-mail accounts, online security and live technical support in Spanish. All of these features are available to customers at no additional cost.

Verizon has been a strong supporter of the Hispanic community and most recently joined the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) and Scholastic Inc. to launch Lee y serás® (Read and You Will Be), a national Latino early literacy initiative that engages parents and communities in the literacy development of their children. Since 2004, the Verizon Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Verizon Communications, has provided more than $24 million to programs and organizations that support the Hispanic community.
