TELE-TV SYSTEMS SELECTS SILICON GRAPHICS' NVOD SERVER
SOLUTION

Order Supports The Interactive Digital Television
Company's

Year-End MMDS Market Entry in Each of It's Partner's
Regions

RESTON, VA-- TELE-TV Systems, the video systems
development and
integration unit of TELE-TV, the interactive television partnership
between Bell Atlantic, NYNEX and Pacific Telesis, has selected Silicon
Graphics Inc. (NYSE:SGI), a leading supplier of digital media servers,
to provide the Near Video-On-Demand (NVOD) Server for its Multichannel
Multipoint Distribution System (MMDS) service. TELE-TV's initial order
is valued at over $1 million dollars and may grow to $5 million over
the next few years.

As a key part of TELE-TV Systems' MMDS platform, the Silicon
Graphics® NVOD server solution is a combination of the Silicon
Graphics CHALLENGE® media server hardware and Interactive
Community(TM)
system software.

By choosing Silicon Graphics' server solution, TELE-TV continues its
progress toward a fourth quarter introduction of digital television
services in its partners' Norfolk, Virginia; Boston, Massachusetts;
and Los Angeles, California markets. This announcement marks another
major step in the acquisition of the technology which will support its
year-end MMDS deployment. This step follows the announcement of
TELE-TV's four-year contract with Thomson Consumer Electronics valued
at $1 billion dollars to provide 3 million set-top boxes.(1)

"Teaming with Silicon Graphics is one of several deals we are
planning
as we build a product that is simply better than today's cable
service," said Ed Grebow, president of TELE-TV Systems.
"Because our
goal is to broadcast more movies, more often than current pay-per-view
providers, we need entertainment technology capable of supporting
40-50 channels of near-video-on-demand programming, capable of
handling massive databases, and providing comprehensive storage and
asset management," continued Mr. Grebow.

TELE-TV's decision to allocate more bandwidth to NVOD will provide
consumers a unique set of staggered movie start times.

Systems. "Our navigational systems, NVOD servers and set-top
technologies will offer unparalleled flexibility for our viewers,"
