Retailer Signs on as STET Hellas Distributor

Athens, Greece -- STET Hellas Telecommunications S.A. [NASDAQ:
STHLY] announced today it signed Germanos S.A., the largest Greek
retail telecommunications equipment and electronics chain, to distribute
STET Hellas' full range of wireless products and services through its
network of more than 100 stores beginning November 2, 1998. The stores
are primarily located in high-traffic areas throughout Greece, including
Athens.

The Germanos agreement fortifies STET Hellas' position in the Greek
market with greater access to customers and enhanced distribution network
quality.

STET Hellas, 20 percent owned by Bell Atlantic, serves more than 580,000
