WorldCom Expands Global Data Network for Multinational Business Customers

Data Services Expansion Broadens WorldCom's Global
Footprint and Delivers New Services Internationally

Washington, DC - July 17, 2000 - WorldCom (NASDAQ: WCOM) today
unveiled plans to expand international data services for
multinational businesses around the globe, including frame relay, ATM
and end-to-end private line. By year-end, the company will extend
frame relay service to 45 countries, widen its ATM geographic
footprint to reach 23 countries, and continue end-to-end private line
penetration in Europe and Asia for seamless service delivery in 26
countries. WorldCom's global network assets, including UUNET
Internet access in more than 100 countries on five continents and an
extensive collection of Web hosting and network colocation centers,
deliver the industry's leading portfolio of facilities-based
advanced data services around the globe.

With this expansion, WorldCom will achieve a significant milestone
by providing facilities-based, virtual private networking services
(VPN), all from a single-service provider, in more than 90 percent of
World Trade Magazine's top ranked countries for trade and
expansion. The company has aligned its fastest-growing assets, namely
data, Internet and international, to best serve businesses in the new
digital e-conomy by providing the critical building blocks for a
global e-business infrastructure.

"Customers are demanding integrated global network solutions
to effectively compete in a data-centric, global economy," said
Jim DeMerlis, WorldCom vice president of Product Marketing. "We
continue to build out our data network and expand our data and voice
service suites to provide the full range of public and private
virtual private networking solutions our customers require in a
networked global e-village."

The worldwide value of goods and services sold via e-commerce
solutions of all types will increase from $212 billion in 2000 to
$2.2 trillion in 2004, according to the latest research from IDC, a
leading industry analyst firm.

In addition to extending its geographic service footprint,
WorldCom is expanding a variety of frame relay and ATM value-added
services internationally that were previously only available in the
domestic U.S. Both frame relay and ATM customers today can take
advantage of frame to ATM internetworking service across
WorldCom's comprehensive, facilities-based footprint, as well as
Web-based network reporting and management. In addition, WorldCom is
making higher bandwidth NxE1 services available to all global ATM
customers. Later this year, WorldCom will also expand its disaster
recovery options to include ISDN restoral services in all frame relay
countries.

"International expansion and the continued globalization of
business will stimulate growth of more than 50 percent per year over
the next few years in international data networking services,"
said Courtney Munroe, program director, business network services,
IDC. "In addition, enterprises with international locations
require seamless and consistent cross-border service, as well as the
same high level of support that they receive in their home
market."

WorldCom (NASDAQ: WCOM) is a global leader in
"all-distance" communications services with operations in
more than 65 countries. Revenues in 1999 were $37 billion, with more
than $15 billion from

high-growth data, Internet and international services. WorldCom
