Every company needs a purpose. It's the reason the company exists and highlights our meaningful role in the world. Purpose drives our culture, the way we do business, and how we serve our customers.
My take on the new purpose…
Verizon has always been a purpose driven company. A few years ago we defined our purpose as “We deliver the promise of the digital world.” It was good, but a little vague. So, as Verizon evolved with 2.0, so should our purpose.
Our new purpose is powerful, inspiring, and something only Verizon can claim: We create the networks that move the world forward. That’s pretty ambitious, but that's who we are. I like that it explains exactly what we do and it's authentic to who we are. It not only speaks to us, but speaks for us.
And I really like how it expands the meaning of networks at Verizon. When we talk about networks it’s not just physical networks, 4G, 5G, fiber. It’s also human networks. It’s networks that form communities, it’s schools, it’s businesses, it’s relationships, it’s us, the V Team.
It’s a simple, short sentence. One in which every word has meaning and speaks to the power of all of us, moving forward together.
It’s definitely something we can all get behind. Now, let's make our new purpose real.
