Verizon offers national security, public safety and first responder plans under the U.S. Navy Spiral 3 contract, the most recent edition of the Navy’s Wireless and Telecommunications contract. These mission critical communication capabilities from Verizon include Verizon’s wireless preemption technology and mobile broadband priority for defense, which enable military and security personnel to stay connected during emergencies. Verizon’s services are designed to enhance the ability of military and national security personnel to stay connected, serve their missions and protect human life.

Defense agencies can procure public safety solutions on the most extensive and reliable nationwide network. The mobile and wireless services Verizon has available on Spiral 3 include:

  • Wireless Preemption, which automatically reallocates network resources to designated users so they can stay connected during emergency situations.

  • Mobile Broadband Priority, which enables military and national security personnel to receive network access over regular traffic when needed.

  • Custom 4G Unlimited Smartphone and Mobile Broadband Plans with Mobile Broadband Priority and Preemption.

“Verizon has engineered our network for decades to keep critical communications lines open so military and national security personnel can do their jobs and ultimately keep citizens safe,” said Mike Maiorana senior vice president, Verizon public sector. “We’re proud to provide Verizon’s best-in-class wireless and mobile solutions under the Spiral 3 contract.”

The Navy’s Spiral 3 Wireless Contracts were awarded to Verizon for a base and 4 option years in 2017.  The ceiling amount of the contracts is $993.5 million to provide wireless service (to include mobile devices) to all federal agencies. Through Verizon’s contract, federal agencies have been able to procure a range of Verizon mobile and wireless services.
