Living the Credo

Verizon has a long history of passion and commitment towards volunteerism and Corporate Social Responsibility. In keeping with our commitment to that legacy, Verizon India has made great strides this past year with activities and initiatives that drew major participation from its employees.

Verizon offers myriad ways for employees to volunteer through direct service, indirect service, team volunteering, and skills-based volunteering. Citizen Verizon is the organization’s responsible business plan for economic, environmental and social advancement that empowers Verizon to deliver on its mission to move the world forward together through action by expanding digital access and resources, protecting the climate, and ensuring people have the skills needed for jobs of the future. The key pillars of Citizen Verizon are Digital Inclusion, Climate Protection and Human Prosperity.

Human Prosperity

Verizon India conducted awareness workshops on social issues like gender equality and education which pave the way for social development. Additionally, World No Tobacco Day was observed by creating awareness programs on the ill-effects of the consumption of tobacco in all forms. Digital posters were designed and used to bring awareness of the potential health hazard it proposes. In October 2022, the team worked with domestic violence survivors on the road to rehabilitation by collecting household/wellness necessities and distributing them. Cleanliness and safety precautions were prominent through the efforts of India V Teamers who created posters on clean hygiene and educational programs.

Climate Protection

More than 500 V Teamers came together on the World Cleanup day in September 2022, and got their hands dirty to make the planet clean and sustainable. Various cleanup events and tree plantation drives were held throughout the year to increase the green cover across Chennai and Hyderabad office locations. Earth Hour was also observed earlier in the year which resulted in saving 603 Kwh power by the V Teamers of Verizon India and the team was ranked second among all Verizon offices, globally.

Digital Inclusion 

V Teamers in India volunteered and assisted students from underserved communities to get the training and interpersonal skills that they need to master interviews for employment opportunities by conducting workshops and skill development programs. With the goal to bridge the digital gap, Verizon India distributed laptops and also improved quality education by supplying the required school supplies for enhanced learning. 

The year 2022 saw a huge difference in the volunteering initiatives taken up by Verizon India both virtually and offline, the programs and activities saw active participation from our V Teamers and also brought a change in the community for the greater good of the society.
