UUNET, an MCI WorldCom company and a global leader in Internet communications solutions, is now offering Global Roaming on its UK Multi-Dial Service, increasingly chosen for use by corporate employees. In addition, the company has reduced the price by 50 percent, enabling UUNET's UK PIPEX Dial and Multi-Dial customers to enjoy the benefits of Global Roaming at the new rate of £2.50 per hour*.
Global Roaming is an optional facility for UUNET's single professional customers subscribing to PIPEX Dial, and now network managers subscribing to Multi-Dial, which offers easier and lower cost Internet access to those travelling abroad. Compared with the cost of international telephone calls back to the UK, Global Roaming provides significant cost savings and added convenience.
Global Roaming enables connection to the PIPEX Dial or Multi-Dial Service by dialing into a local UUNET PoP. These PoPs are currently located in 22 countries and over 1000 cities around the world. There is no monthly fee as the service is pay-as-you-use and, because the global network and Points of Presence (PoPs) are owned and centrally managed by UUNET, faster Internet access and a more reliable service are provided, compared to other services on the UK market.
The UK Global Roaming announcements are the results of the benefits of the resources of MCI WorldCom and the major investment programme by UUNET to continuously improve its network infrastructure, both transatlantic and across Europe. The first stage has recently been completed and includes an increase in US to UK Internet capacity (from 45Mbps to 645Mbps) and intra-European capacity (from 400Mbps to 3,000Mbps) with local access to the UUNET network continually increasing.

About Multi-Dial
Launched in June this year, UUNET's Multi-Dial is part of a new strategy for developing a standardised dial-up Internet service for corporates who need a more effective way of single sourcing and managing Internet provision for large numbers of mobile workers, branch and remote offices.
The service provides network managers with on-line administration and management of end-users. For end-users, the software is pre-configured, offers five company e-mail boxes and support for a variety of access methods including PC, mobile phones and Windows CE handheld devices. Billing is simplified with a single sales contact and invoice, with savings on monthly Internet access charges through Multi-Dial's volume discounting.
