Catching up with Matt Ellis

On this special “Money Monday” edition of Up To Speed Live, Andy welcomed our Chief Financial Officer, Matt Ellis, who shared his top takeaways from our 3rd quarter earnings last week.

Matt also gave us a closer look into the prep that his team does for Earnings Day reporting, and some tips on how each of us can strengthen our own financial acumen. For the latter, Matt suggests reading through our earnings materials as well as those of our competitors, and listening to the earnings call with a group so that you can discuss in real time.

Self ID Campaign

Earlier in October we heard from Christy who talked to us about the Self-ID campaign. This was sent to U.S.-based employees, designed to help us further understand our workforce representation. While Verizon is federally-mandated to collect this information, it also provides employers an opportunity to pinpoint areas that need improvement as we look to reinforce how we support and champion a more diverse workforce.

#Next20: Disability + Race

Our next #Next20 episode features Verizon Media’s Tatiana Pile moderating a panel with disability rights activists on the intersectionality of disabilities and race. The discussion will cover the continued barriers and misperceptions people with disability face despite being the largest minority group in the U.S.

Brought to you in partnership with our BOLD and ADVANCE Employee Resource Groups, speakers include Imani Barbarin, Leon Ford and Maysoon Zayid who share their personal stories and thoughts on how we can build a more accessible, inclusive and equitable world. Check it out on Wednesday on our Twitter page at 3 PM ET/12 PM PT.

4Q Pulse reminder

Our 4Q Pulse survey is well underway and will close on October 30. We want to keep the conversation going on our journey from “great” to “fantastic”. This survey is a deeper dive into themes we uncovered through our last VZPulse+ and will help us refine our action plans as we head into the future. It’s short, confidential, and super easy to complete. Don’t wait. Share your feedback now.

Nominate a Veteran

A couple of weeks ago we talked about our cool new military gear available for purchase in support of our veterans. Today we need your help to make the annual NYC Veterans Day Parade special. Like many events this year, the parade will be different, including a great new interactive element that we’ll be bringing to the festivities. That’s where you come in.

Share your “Thank You” message with pictures highlighting a Veteran family member, friend, or fellow employee by October 28, and that message may be highlighted on Verizon's digital billboard truck that will be part of the parade on November 11. You can make your submission here.

Friends & Family

With all our exciting 5G news and devices, now is the perfect time to tell your friends and family to join our network. They can get up to $25 off a month on mobile and $10 off a month on Fios when they make the switch. Learn more here and get sharing!

Ghoulish Good mailbox

Finally, for our little ghouls and goblins, Halloween will be a little different this year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a little fun. Send us your best photos of family members in costume celebrating Halloween to good@verizon.com, and we will share some of those later this week!

Annual enrollment

Kevin Cammarata shared some examples of potential changes in medical benefits, carriers and plans as we optimize to make sure they’re working for all V Teamers. If your plan is changing you’ll receive notification via a letter delivered to your home. There is an annual enrollment page on the web where you can get more details.
