Today, on a special edition of Up To Speed Live, we are continuing our commitment to bring you the latest information on our response in areas impacted by Hurricane Helene.

On the ground in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida.

Emergency Response Teams are out in force in the above states (as well as the Appalachian Mountain area) to restore service and provide support to customers in the region.

Providing relief for customers affected by the storm.

During a crisis, there’s nothing so critical as being able to communicate with rescue services, community resources, family, friends and neighbors. That’s why we’re automatically waiving domestic call, text, and data usage for postpaid consumer, small business customers,* and Verizon Prepaid customers impacted by the storm in parts of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Relief will take place from Sept. 26 through Oct. 5, 2024. Check out our press release for full details on the waiver, including a full listing of counties impacted.

▶️ Be sure to watch: employees on the ground report in Florida and North Carolina.

  • Don’t miss Credo Winner and Sr. Network Engineer Bernard Kramer on the Verizon DIRT (Dedicated Impact Response Team) reporting live from Horseshoe Beach, Florida. ⏩ [01:02]
  • Hear from Paul Miller on the Business Continuity Event Management team who’s in Asheville, North Carolina at the WECC (Wireless Emergency Command Center), a generator powered mobile unit available to anyone needing to charge devices and use cellular and wifi to contact friends, family and other important contacts over our network. ⏩ [02:08]
  • Brandon Jones on the Medium Business team sent in photos of the destruction in his own neighborhood in Hendersonville, North Carolina. He also came up with a great way to help his neighbors. ⏩ [02:36]

You can help too, with VtoV.

It can make you feel helpless when you watch a disaster from afar. We all wish that we could pop over and help out. Even though most of the V Team is too far to physically lend a hand, you can help Verizon employees who are most affected by this disaster.

The VtoV Employee Relief Fund directly helps V Teamers who are displaced by a natural disaster (or domestic violence) with funds to help with shelter and life’s necessities.

Check your check: You can donate in any number of ways, but most folks appreciate the convenience and impact of making a payroll deduction. If you already have a deduction, but haven’t thought about an increase, this could be the perfect time for a one-time donation or to kick up your per-paycheck amount by a few dollars.

Get the info: To learn more about VtoV, including how to apply for a grant, all the ways to give and to see stories of how VtoV has impacted the lives of employees, check out the webpage.

Thank you.

Thank you to the response teams on the ground and networks teams across the business working around the clock to restore communities who need connection now more than ever.
