On today’s episode of Up To Speed, we meet V Teamer Katrina Simpson, a managing partner for the Verizon Business Group in Pensacola, Florida.

Working in various roles in four different states during her nine years with Verizon, Katrina is used to moving around quite a bit: first as a child, because of her father’s military service, and now as an Air Force spouse. In fact, she met her eventual husband when they were children in Scotland, where both of their fathers had been deployed by the U.S. Navy.

She expressed gratitude for working for a company that fosters her work-life balance as a military spouse and as a career woman: “Every time I’ve had to move, there has not been a leader who has not picked up the phone, called across the country to someone that they don't know, to speak on my behalf.”

Katrina and her husband, Master Sgt. Aitor Simpson, are now preparing for their biggest mission yet: parenthood. Ahead of an expected August delivery date, Katrina is already mapping out her maternity leave, for which Verizon provides extensive benefits.

“Verizon definitely gives us a lot of time to be able to, not only take care of our children, but to take care of ourselves,” Katrina said, “and I’m really looking forward to that.”
