When you visit a Verizon store, you never know what treasures you’ll find or who’ll you’ll meet. For example, customers visiting our Flemington, NJ, location at noon ET today discovered Up To Speed host Andy Choi broadcasting live and sharing the following updates:

Up To Speed week in review

Helping emerging artists with emerging tech

Also this week, we announced that we’re teaming with Capitol Music and Motown Records to explore how 5G and MEC can help artists reach fans in new ways.Together we're launching a new Emerging Tech and Emerging Artist program giving artists access to a 5G-powered virtual production stage, a volumetric capture studio, game engine technology, and a suite of XR production tools. Check out the first performance by TheHxilday this Friday at 6:30PM ET by signing up.

Broken phone promo

If you didn’t get around to bringing in your cracked, damaged phone last month, you’re in luck. Earlier this week, we extended our popular Broken Phone promotion. Customers who trade in their old or damaged phones can get up to $1,000 off our best 5G smartphones. This offer won’t last forever, so tell your friends and family to take advantage while they can.

The rock stars of retail

Who are the rock stars of our retail team? Our solutions specialists, of course. Joining them this week at stores across the country were CEO Hans Vestberg and other leaders, including Chief Marketing Officer Diego Scotti, Chief Revenue Officer Frank Boulbon, SVP of Sales and Operations Krista Bourne and SVP of Consumer Sales Sean Lee.

Here in the United States, as COVID-19 cases drop and the weather warms up, more people are venturing out of their homes and our retail locations are getting busier. “Having all the customers coming back in the store is very refreshing,” said Solutions Specialist Jimmy Dominguez.

Krista and Sean shared their excitement for #SWAG, which stands for “Sell, Win And Grow.” Part of that message includes a call for hiring more amazing V Teamers to handle the increase in retail traffic. We’re looking to add more than a thousand new retail employees throughout the country. As Krista mentioned, let’s get the word out and keep strengthening our team!

VZPulse+

Speaking of making your voices heard, make sure to complete your VZPulse+ survey before Monday at 11:59 PM ET. This is the best way to share your feedback and help shape the future of our company. You can find your survey link in one of the three ways:

  • An email from Gallup (look for an external message with the [E] in the subject line)
  • A text message sent to your work device
  • Your “To-Dos” on VZWeb

Every V Teamer’s opinion is super important and that’s why we want to reach 100% participation.

Show your appreciation

The month of May also marks Military Appreciation Month, a moment to celebrate those who serve and those who have served. One great way all of us can be a part of that celebration is by taking a selfie holding a card that says “Thanks2Vets.” Then share your thoughts with someone in your life that you’d like to thank for their service. We’d love to see your posts and we’d love to see you wearing your Verizon gear. Post your message on Linkedin and Twitter, and make sure you use the hashtag #Thanks2Vets and tag @VerizonCareers.

How to get the latest V Team gear

Speaking of Verizon branded gear, you can order yours through our Brand Shop or directly through the Call for Fire store. “Call for Fire” is a combat disabled veteran-owned business and our partnership with them continues with part of the proceeds going to veteran nonprofit organizations on behalf of Verizon. And, we’ve got some new gear for you to choose from!

Don’t miss Monday

Make sure to tune in on Monday at 12 PM ET to catch Andy and fellow Up To Speed hosts talking about some of the important initiatives going on through the month of May, including Mental Health Awareness Month and Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, to name a few.

Cheers, mate!

Finally, thanks to Senior Manager of Network Engineering & Operations Paul Edward Lowe for his Up To Speed signoff from across the bay from the Sydney Opera House in Australia. A gorgeous end to the week.
