On today’s Up To Speed, host Andy Choi, Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg and Verizon Media CEO Guru Gowrappan discussed Tuesday’s innovative Yahoo Build It Forward event, which featured our leaders and celebrities like tennis legend Serena Williams and former baseball star David Ortiz.

“I’m incredibly proud of the show,” said Guru. “It was a super interactive and fun XR experience. I want to give a shout out to the teams across Verizon Media, working together tirelessly to launch some very exciting new products for our audiences around the world. Great work, all.”

Hans also voiced his appreciation. “Yahoo is bringing people closer to what they love in new and very innovative ways,” said Hans. “This is a big part of how we, Verizon, create the networks that move the world forward.”

Guru shared three key takeaways from the event:

  • We’re reimagining Yahoo. Yahoo is making it easier for people to dive even deeper into what they love.
  • Our new Yahoo experience and products are more personal and customizable than ever. We’ve built them around passions big and small, including new shopping, cooking, parenting and sports offerings. With our innovative technology and trusted content, we provide people with unique experiences they can’t find anywhere else.
  • We announced some awesome new products and we’re going really big in commerce. We launched Yahoo Plus, Draft Together, our new AR partnership with fashion designer Rebecca Minkoff, new In The Know Parenting and Cooking verticals, and a preview of the next-gen Yahoo experience and Yahoo Shops.

Guru encourages everybody to check these out for themselves on Yahoo. Hans, who will be going on Yahoo himself to get the latest news and tips on his favorite hobby of running, stressed that all V Teamers should watch the replay of Yahoo Build It Forward and check out the new products.

The reason for Hans was simple. “I think you’ll be amazed.”
