Hello, Atlanta!

That’s right. The next stop on our Staycation Roadtrip is Hotlanta, a.k.a. City in a Forest, Hollywood of the South or simply The ATL. The city is the birthplace of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., home of Coca Cola, and for a year now, one of the lucky cities enjoying the blazing speed of Verizon 5G.

Local V Teamer - Cory Lockett

To help get to know the city, Andy spoke with Cora Lockett, Customer Service Operations Manager, BOLD Operations leader and a 16-year V Team veteran. Cora is proud to work at a company that is actively working on social justice issues, including holding more than 100 Courageous Conversations in the past month alone.

She also likes how V Teamers motivate one another to give back. In fact, Cora reports that members of the BOLD ERG have already performed over 20,000 volunteer hours so far this year.

As for must-see spots in Atlanta, Cora recommends Bone’s for tasty steaks, Stony River in Duluth for great shrimp, and when the time is right, a visit to Mercedes-Benz Stadium for a Falcons football game.

Local artist - Yehimi Cambron

Yehimi Cambron is a local artist, activist and public speaker originally from Mexico. Her artwork, which includes stunning murals that can be found all around greater Atlanta, celebrates the resilience, humanity and contributions of immigrants.

Local small business - The Real Mexican Vittles

We asked Yehimi to help us shine a spotlight on a deserving local business. She put The Real Mexican Vittles at the top of her list. This Atlanta taqueria represents cultural passion, selling authentic and delicious Mexican bites. In the spirit of Pay It Forward Live (our small business concert series), we’re going to use our Verizon Visa credit card to pick up tacos for 100 customers. Check out @vzuptospeed on Twitter for the details.

Exciting LTE Home Internet news

Not all of our good news has to do with Atlanta, but it does involve some of our Southern customers. Across the country, our Verizon 4G LTE network ensures wherever you are, the world is at your fingertips. Now, for the first time, we’re taking our LTE network and bringing it into the home for broadband internet service.

Starting today, Verizon will expand home access internet to customers outside the Fios and 5G Home footprints. If you live in Springfield, MO, Savannah, GA, and the Tri Cities in Tennessee, Virginia and Kentucky and are a Verizon customer, you’ll be the first to try LTE Home Internet. For $40 a month, you get unlimited data and download speeds of 25 megabits per second with peak speeds of 50 megabits. Easy self setup means customers can install the router on their own. So whether it’s work from home, homeschooling the kids or binge-watching shows on the nation’s most-awarded network, LTE Home Internet is part of Verizon’s commitment to make sure customers in rural parts of America have access to broadband internet service. Look for more news about LTE Home Internet coming soon to more cities.

That’s all for now, Atlanta. Thanks so much for the Southern hospitality. Tune in next week to see where we’re headed next. Until next time, you’re up to speed.
