On today’s Up To Speed Live, host Diana Alvear shared the following updates:

Week in review

Monday: We kicked off the week with all things Verizon 5G Home and Business, including a great live chat with Senior Data Performance Engineer Neal Shah about why Ultra is a business’ best friend.

Tuesday: We congratulated two V Teamers, Retail Managers DanAngelo Bell and Jason Scott on their graduations, and welcomed a new member of the Up To Speed team, sweet and precious Emilia.

Thursday: We saw how Verizon Business internet is helping a Cleveland non-profit keep doing the good work of housing families in need.

Gaming goes Ultra

Verizon is all in when it comes to making the best network for gamers. DrLupo, one of the biggest names in the business, talked about how excited he is about mobile gaming on 5G UW. As we emerge from the pandemic, DrLupo expects more people to be out and about, taking advantage of the console-quality mobile gaming experience that is possible with 5G.

Diana introduced us to Kelvin Ma, a Software Engineer on our Technology and Product Development team, and Eric Tam, Manager of Content Partnerships, two V Teamers working at the edge of what’s possible when it comes to gaming and new worlds of fun.

Getting to know our 5G Labs

Diana was joined by Director of Tech Product Management Christian Guirnalda of 5G Labs. Christian talked about how 5G will change the game for mobile gaming, as well as other exciting projects being developed in our 5G Labs.

5G and innovation in Arizona

Verizon recently launched a 5G Innovation Hub at Arizona State University’s Learning Futures Collaboratory, Studios and Emporium. Students, faculty, entrepreneurs, and corporate partners can now work together at the Hub to test and create 5G-powered educational experiences that are more inclusive, equitable and accessible.

Speaking of the Grand Canyon state, Verizon Business Group CEO Tami Erwin presented at Arizona State University yesterday at the 2022 Smart Region Summit alongside Dr. Michael Crow, the president of ASU, where they discussed Broadband Access and the future of education and innovation.

Tami also visited the Phoenix Suns training facility where VP of Device Technology Brian Mecum and his team showcased ways they are using 5G to enhance player performance. Verizon employees were also invited to check out the amazing ways our network is redefining the way athletes train.

New Volunteer Portal

Last year, V Teamers donated 546,400 hours of service, blowing past our yearly goal. Let’s start off the new year on the right note by making a difference for others and our community.
