Existing or new Verizon Freedom Essentials bundle customers who  make frequent phone calls overseas can now do so at very low rates by adding the Verizon International Single Rate calling plan.

Under the plan, international calls cost as little as 2 cents per minute for bundle customers.  There are two plans to choose from: 300 minutes (five hours) of calling for $7.50 per month and 500 minutes (more than eight hours) of calling for $10 per month.  The $7.50-a-month plan includes an additional bundled discount of $2.50 off per month, and the $10-a-month plan includes an additional bundled discount of $5 off per month.*

The Verizon International Single Rate calling plan allows customers in the U.S. to make low-price calls to 118 countries, including those that are called most frequently - Mexico, the United Kingdom, the Philippines, Italy, Germany and Israel. (Unlimited calls to Canada are included in Freedom calling plans.)

"We want our customers to have an easy and affordable way to stay in touch with family and friends overseas," said Eddie Googe, director of consumer voice and bundle services for Verizon.  "This promotion is just in time for the holidays, and adding the International Single Rate plan to any Verizon Freedom Essentials bundle will give customers the most savings."

Customers who have a Verizon Freedom voice plan without a bundle can add the International Single Rate plan for $10 per month for 300 minutes or $15 per month for 500 minutes.**  Verizon Freedom Essentials is a common component of Verizon's bundled offerings of voice, broadband Internet and video services.

Customers who do not have a Verizon Freedom voice plan can enroll in the International Single Rate plan for $14.99 per month for 300 minutes or $19.99 per month for 500 minutes.  Verizon's bundled customers who add the International Single Rate plan would save up to 50 percent.

Verizon customers can also easily keep track of their International Single Rate usage by logging into www.verizon.com under "residential account sign in"and accessing "My Home Phone" under "My Services."  On the "My Home Phone" page, clicking on View Home Plan Details provides usage information.

All Verizon customers can visit www.verizon.com and use the online feature to review their account statements and pay their Verizon bills.

Verizon's landline network is 99.9 percent reliable, and on average carries more than 8 million international calls per month.  In a study conducted by KRC Research for Verizon, nearly 100 percent of respondents said voice quality, audio volume, voice clarity and tone are important reasons why they prefer to place calls from a fixed landline phone.

Customers with the Verizon International Single Rate plan who exceed their minutes, call "premium numbers," such as wireless phone numbers served by a cellular carrier in another country, or call countries not included in the plan will pay additional charges at competitive rates on a per-minute-of-use basis.

Existing Verizon customers and new customers interested in the Verizon International Single Rate plan can visit www.verizon.com or call 1-800-VERIZON (1-800-837-4966).  More information and a list of qualifying countries also are available at www.verizon.com/internationalrates.
