ORANGEBURG, N.Y -- Bell Atlantic Mobile and Nobody Beats the Wiz today
announced a joint agreement that names the region's leading wireless
company as the exclusive provider of wireless services at 39 Nobody
Beats The Wiz locations throughout New York, New Jersey, Long Island
and Connecticut.
"Offering Bell Atlantic Mobile's products and services is a perfect
fit with our goal of becoming a one-stop communications source for our
customers," said Tasso Koken, senior vice president, Nobody Beats The
Wiz. "We decided to exclusively offer Bell Atlantic Mobile service
because of our confidence in the superior quality and reliability of
their digital network, pricing, and outstanding customer support. They
are also a great team to do business with and add tremendous
experience to our team."
Julie Dobson, president of Bell Atlantic Mobile's New York Metro
Region, said consumers will benefit the most. "Many consumers in the
New York area have long relied on The Wiz for high-quality electronics
products and services. Now, customers can purchase the area's best
value wireless services there, too, knowing they will receive the same
level of quality and attention they are accustomed to when looking for
a television, camcorder or compact
disc player."
The agreement is for three years, and is effective immediately. By the
year 2000, it is estimated there will be up to 100 million wireless
customers nationwide. Bell Atlantic Mobile's consumer-focused pricing
options, such as its DigitalChoiceSM and Mobile MinutesSM
services, make it the logical wireless provider of choice for Nobody
Beats The Wiz customers.
"This partnership with The Wiz is part of an aggressive effort to
expand distribution channels to provide customers even easier access
to our products and services," said Dobson. "A convenient location
offering Bell Atlantic Mobile service is no more than a 10 to 15
minute drive from virtually anywhere in New York and New Jersey."
Bell Atlantic Mobile is the largest wireless service provider on the
East Coast and the third largest in the United States. The company
owns and operates the most extensive network in the East, covering
111,000 square miles, and the largest chain of wireless retail outlets
offering a full range of wireless personal communications services,
including voice, data, and paging. Based in Bedminster, NJ, Bell
Atlantic Mobile has more than 5.4 million customers and 7,000
employees in the Northeast, mid-Atlantic, Southeast, and -- through a
separate subsidiary -- in the Southwest. Through its "Wireless at
Work..." community relations program, which includes HopeLine(R)
voicemail service, Bell Atlantic Mobile uses its wireless technology
to help individuals and communities improve security and emergency
communications.
Nobody Beats The Wiz is the Tri-State area's dominant consumer
electronics, music and wireless retail franchise. The Wiz offers an
extensive variety of brand name products, ranging from big screen
televisions, camcorders, VCR's, cameras, audio components, CD's, and
wireless communications gear. Nobody Beats The Wiz is a wholly owned
subsidiary of Cablevision Systems Corporation "CSC", Woodbury, New
York, and employs over 2,700 people in the New York metropolitan area.
