Want to enter the new year with an affordable home-entertainment and communications package that beats cable cold?  Verizon has it.  The ultimate home-entertainment and broadband experience - Verizon FiOS - is even better, with new, additional cost-saving offers and a range of advanced fiber-optic-based services just in time for the holidays.

"Some large retail chains already are announcing discounts on TVs, digital cameras, laptops and other home electronics for the holiday shopping season," said John Wimsatt, senior vice president of marketing for Verizon Telecom.  "We're offering new savings on award-winning FiOS TV and Internet services - so if you're already paying too much for cable TV, now's the time to get the power of an advanced network and a lot more for your money with FiOS."

Details of Verizon bundle offers are available at www.verizon.com or from a Verizon representative at 1-888-GET-FiOS.

All new customers who sign up for a FiOS triple- or quad-play bundle by Jan. 16 already receive a $150 Visa prepaid card.  Now, the promotion also provides new FiOS customers with $10 a month off for the first year of certain FiOS triple-play bundles.  Customers in Northeast and Mid-Atlantic markets who add new FiOS TV or Internet with a Verizon Wireless calling plan in their FiOS bundle will receive $15 a month off for the first six months.

Advanced DVR Also Part of New Promotion

When customers choose FiOS TV as part of their bundle during the new promotion, they will receive a Verizon Home Media DVR at no additional charge for three months (a $60 value).

The advanced DVR gives customers the ability to record programming that can then be watched on up to six other TV sets in the home.  This includes simultaneously viewing up to three separately recorded programs on different TV sets, and the ability to pause recorded programming on one set and continue to watch it on another.

Customers also can remotely manage the DVR using any broadband connection or any broadband-enabled cell phone.  And, by using Verizon's free Media Manager service, DVR customers can stream personal music, photos and videos from their PCs to their TV, plus search and enjoy online videos from blip.tv, Dailymotion and Veoh right on their TVs.

"Our Home Media DVR dramatically expands your home-entertainment experience," said Wimsatt.  "It frees families to watch what they want, where they want, on their own schedules.  It easily transports media from your computer to your TV or home-entertainment system.  Imagine sharing those holiday photos and videos with friends and family on the big screen, or streaming your computer-based music playlists through your entire home.  Our new promotion makes it easy to experience the FiOS DVR difference."

The FiOS Internet Difference:  Free Wi-Fi Connections and Advanced Security

All customers who subscribe to FiOS Internet service with downstream connections of up to 20 Mbps (megabits per second) or higher already get free access to thousands of Wi-Fi connections across the U.S.  Free Verizon Wi-Fi hot spot locations include hotels, airports, restaurants, coffee shops, retailers, convention centers and public locations across the U.S.  For a list of hot-spot locations, visit www.verizon.net/hotspots.

FiOS Internet services also provide a gateway to other valuable Verizon services that help preserve and protect data, including Verizon Internet Security Suite and Verizon Online Backup & Sharing.

"With additional new savings and the chance to experience the FiOS difference with services like our fee Wi-Fi and advanced DVR, there's never been a better time to switch from old-fashioned cable to the power of Verizon's all-fiber-optic network and award-winning FiOS services," said Wimsatt.

Verizon's FiOS TV offers a broad collection of programming, with more than 500 all-digital channels including more than 126 HD channels.  The service offers more than 18,000 monthly VOD titles, more than 2,400 of which are in HD.  FiOS TV also provides next-generation interactive services including an advanced interactive media guide; news, entertainment and social TV widgets; remote DVR management; multi-room DVR; and more.  Verizon FiOS Internet is a leader in providing the fastest broadband connections, delivering Internet access with downstream connection speeds of up to 50 Mbps and upstream connections of up to 25 Mbps.*

FiOS Internet and FiOS TV both topped this year's J.D. Power customer satisfaction surveys for the East region.  In 2009, for the fourth consecutive year, FiOS Internet won a Readers Choice Award from PCMag.com, ranking No. 1 in speed, overall customer satisfaction and reliability in the current survey.
