Internet World, New York - Oct. 6, 1998 - GTE Internetworking, a division of GTE Corp. (NYSE: GTE), and Renaissance Worldwide, Inc. (NASDAQ: REGI), a leading global provider of information technology (IT) and management consulting, today announced that they have launched a new customizable knowledge management application service, complete with hosting, secure access control and consulting and integration services. KnowledgeNexus is a Web-based solution that enables individuals, groups and organizations to create interactive workspaces where they can securely share documents, capture, publish and maintain corporate knowledge and expertise across multiple organizations through a secure extranet.
Renaissance built the KnowledgeNexus service on GTE's Knowledge Re@ch application framework, adding specialized content and additional functionality. "The combination of our proven knowledge management expertise and GTE's hosting, security and Internet leadership is unparalleled," said Mark Post, Vice President of Renaissance's KnowledgeNexus Solutions Group. "We can now respond to our client's knowledge management issues and deploy wide-scale integrated business solutions in a matter of weeks, even in a dynamically changing organizational environment."
As part of the service, Renaissance consultants and knowledge management professionals will work with GTE Internetworking's Web hosting, applications, networking and security experts to provide customers with a custom knowledge management solution. Renaissance will help organizations identify corporate knowledge assets, fill the KnowledgeNexus with content and implement knowledge management processes, roles, responsibilities and incentives to ensure on-going currency and relevance of the corporate knowledge base. As an industry leader in the hosting market, GTE will host the application, monitoring its use 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This mission critical hosting will maintain the application's high availability, security, and provide scalability as the number of users increase.
Benefits of KnowledgeNexus
While the service is customizable for each organization, there is distinct functionality already built in, which controls user access based on their roles within an organization or project group - all secured through access control technology. As an intranet, Internet and/or extranet service for managing and sharing corporate knowledge, KnowledgeNexus offers customers immediate business value.
